TLC has performed the first ever kidney transplants in Ghana with great success. The TLC team travelled to Accra to work with the local team at the Korle Bu Hospital, to demonstrate and teach live kidney transplantation.
We were able to help a father save the life of his son, a sister save her brother, and a wife save her husband. Kidney failure in Ghana usually means death as kidney dialysis is out of financial reach of most and transplantation has never been available before. The TLC visit is the first in a series to provide ongoing teaching and support towards a self-sustaining transplant centre serving the people of Ghana.

Transplant Links recently arranged for Felix from Ghana to come to the UK for a life-saving transplant. His father donated one of his kidneys to save Felix' life when he had just a few weeks left to live. The operation was a great success.

Well done Aimee for helping raise funds for Felix by selling friendship bracelets. Aimee wanted to help with the fundraising for Felix by finding as many friends for him as she could and asking them to donate £1 for a friendship bracelet. Many friends came forward and Aimee raised a fantastic £400!
You can still buy friendship bracelets online to help TLC here.
