In the developed world, if you have kidney failure there are options of dialysis or transplantation, which are life saving.
In the developing countries, kidney failure often goes undiagnosed and untreated.
- The outlook for someone with kidney failure in many countries is worse than if they had HIV/AIDS
- Dialysis is not always available and if it is, the cost of $100 per session is out of the financial reach of many.
- There is no dialysis for children.
- Transplantation is not an option as the medical skills are not yet established.
Many patients die unnecessarily.
