In this section of the blog we’ll keep you informed of the progress of three brave and fearless cyclists who are taking on the massive challenge of the Australian Alps – an epic 1,200km route linking Australia’s two biggest cities, Sydney and Melbourne, all in aid of Transplant Links.
In February, Gary Roche, Dan Bridgeman and Geoff Clarkson will experience mountainous terrain, extreme weather conditions – from bitter cold, to temperatures in excess of 40°C. It’s a huge undertaking and a physical challenge that will push them to their limits for our charity. To find out more visit www.justgiving.com/aus2010.
Well, in two weeks we commence our cycle ride from Sydney to Melbourne across the Australian Alps, we had a little scare in terms of our travel plans thanks to the volcanic ash cloud, but skies are now open and we’re keen to put our hard training through the hard winter into practise. During the ride which commences in Sydney on 10th May and finishes in Melbourne 9 days later (hopefully) we aim to keep everyone posted through daily updates. Follow our porgress, or lack of it and post back your comments, we’re sure going to need all the support you will be able to offer. After all it’s for a great cause! Gary, Geoff and Dan.
It is incredible how fragile our air transportation system is. Who would have imagined that a volcanic ash cloud could effect air traffic the way that is has!
