Dr Cockwell has updated us to say all is well and the children are doing really well.

The kidneys are all working well.

Fine tuning of medication and they will be back home in the next few days.

All feeling satisfied with a successful mission.
It’s always a nervous feeling leaving the patients behind but dr Cockwell and the NOTTU team have everything in control.

Went very well. Dr roberts and the local team are very happy with the cases so far. The last two transplants appear to be working well.
The team sampled some local specialities last night and all are still well – doubles and cow heel soup turned out to be favourites!

Team are making final preparations before going to the hospital.
Potentially difficult recipient today because of his size.
10years old but only 20kg due to his kidney disease which has retarded his growth. He also has bad bone disease due to his kidney failure. If all goes well his mothers kidney will transform his life.

As usual important last minute questions of “do we need malarone?” or “how do we get to gatwick?” and “where is my passport?”are coming out.

We have done a brief on the patients and their donors and all seems good so far.
